(Sorry for the double-post.)

:iconminguchi: is desperately trying to raise funds by doing commission to help her friend and her friend's father who are in a dire situation due to a tragedy that happened not so long ago. They are about to be evicted unless they come up with the rent fee ASAP.

Every penny might help. If you feel like you can spare a few dollars and would like to help, please look at her info here:

They've been fund raising since January. Who is imouto-chan? I have never heard of them and I can't seem to find them in DeviantArt. o_O? Not to be horribly skeptic, but how do we know they're real? When Japan had its tsunamis and its earthquakes and its nuclear mess, I donated, but I made sure the organizations were real and delivered results. What of this particular person? I mean, does nobody else find the three journal entries claiming charity as a reason for raising like 700-1,000 dollars a little interesting?

I don't mean to be a pessimist, but I've been scammed time and time again, so I'm somewhat more cautious now with what I do with my time and money.

Just for future reference.

My friend's mother passed away back in December. Her family has been having hard times financially since then. Her father hadn't been able to find work, and just recently found a job (thought it doesn't pay nearly enough). My commissions are always open to try to help them through their financial hardship. This time however, is the first time we really haven't been able to come up with the money to pay for their rent...and also the first time they've been threatened to be evicted. I'm really very scared for her and her father.

I'm not asking for donations, I'm asking that people consider paying me for hard work. This isn't just something I'm doing to get easy cash, this is a real situation. However I do understand your skepticism and I respect it. If you don't have the means or don't want to help that is entirely up to you, I'm not trying to force anyone into doing anything for me. I'm simply asking for assistance.

Imouto-chan's (Jay) life has been hard ever since her mother passed away, and given she is only in highschool it's a lot to deal with. She's always been there for me and I'm doing my best to try to keep her head above water as the months go by. So far I had been doing fine, until I hit a wall and that's why I asked Kaoru-chan and some others for help.

again, I'm NOT asking for large donations (and in the event I do get donations I repay each person with at least some drawing)..and I'm not trying to make an easy buck. These commissions take time and energy and I wouldn't be putting so much effort into it if I didn't really care.

I'm sorry that you feel the way you feel, but this is real.

Also thank you EVERYONE who has helped out so far, we're almost at our goal!

Ah, I see. That makes more sense. It's just that if you just say "imouto-chan" and we try to DevArt it, it doesn't really connect. Heh.

Well, good luck on reaching the goal. If I wasn't already swamped and in the process of moving, and trying to fix problems with my house, and plan a wedding, I'd probably pitch in. But, as things stand right now, I'd feel bad making a promise I cannot keep, and know I have a small chance of delivering on.

It's sweet of you to do commissions for Ms. Jay though. An idea if you are hard-pressed for cash and short on time is to open a weekend art class series, Friday and Saturday for two weekends (total 4 days) and charge $20/day per person, with each day's lesson being about 2 hours. This works well if you run it in the newspaper; generally costs about $15-$30 to run a small advertisement. If you're doing kid classes, $10/kid isn't bad, and you can do crafts. For money fast, group lessons is a good way to go.

I suppose it is rather confusing. I end up calling her "Imouto-chan" by force of habit, so I'm sorry if that confused you. ^^; It was my bad. It's just that she's like a younger sister to me so I call her by that name--it's a bit dorky, I know, but it's how we've always addressed each other. (She calls me Nee-chan or Nee-Nee).

Ah thank you so much for that suggestion! I'll definitely look into setting that up. I'll see if I can start putting flyers around my neighborhood to raise some extra money for Jay and her father.

Thank you so much and sorry for all this misunderstanding! I hope everything goes well with what you are doing in your life. :'D

Don't do fliers; printing and color paper and tape costs money and doesn't really get the attention needed.
News paper works really well for this type of stuff. Local art gallery may help you advertise for free too, if you just drive by and explain your case to them. Usually, art galleries are very supportive of local artists. =)

Good luck!

lol, ah, what I'm doing with my life...life is crazy but it's an interesting ride I guess. I've sort of given up on trying to figure it out or trying to plan it. It never turns out the way I expect and no amount of planning does much good anyways.

Oh thank you for the tip! I'll definitely look into working with the local art galleries. I know a few at the nearby mall that might be interested. Thanks!

Ah, yes life is pretty tricky. I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out one day though. Hoping the best for you as well!

Thank you for all your well wishes!
